2009 Waterford Film Festival Results

The 3rd Annual Waterford Film Festival came to a close on Sunday 8 November after a sucessful weekend of screening movies from around the world.

A total of 30 short films and 8 feature films and documentaries was screened over the 3 days. All of us here at the Waterford Film Festival would like to thank all the filmmakers and screenplay writers who submitted their work to us as well as the filmmakers and screenplay writers whose work was accepted at this years event. It was very hard for our panel to make their final decisions as a great bounty of work was submitted to us. The results of this year’s winners and runners up are as follows:

Best Feature Film: Winner : Bitterness Producer: Joseph Delond, Director : Joseph Delond

Runners up: Billy and Lilly  Go  To New York Producer: Maria Maloney Director: Bill Maloney

Best Feature Documentary: Winner: Pipe Down Producer(s) : Cian O Laoi and Pliver Knowles Director(s): Cian O Laoi and Pliver Knowles

Runners Up: Obama’s Irish Roots Producer(s) : Yvette Hoyle +Gabriel Murray Director: Gabriel Murray

Best Short Film: Winner: The Man in the Boot Producer: Niall O Connor Director:  Anthony Kinsella

Runners up: Near Future Producer(s): Steven Stubbs/Ray Sullivan Director: Steven Stubbs

Best Short Screenplay: Winner : The boy who killed James Connolly by Laura O Connell

Runner up:  Silent Night by James Phelan
